S A S: Surviving After A Suicide Loss
This is Naples oldest, continuous running weekly
support group of 20+ years. We are a peer led
group of individuals who know the agony and anguish
of having experienced a most traumatic death, due to
this dreaded disease. We gather to help people cope
with the death of a loved one who has died of
suicide.
It is and always has been an open group, meaning,
each week all survivors come to share the pain and
gains they experience in their lives. We help our
members make sense out of something so senseless. We
come together to care and share with each other as
we keep moving through our pain.
Because we have yet to meet, we would like you to
hear clearly the phrase “died of suicide.” So many
people say “commit.” We as “Survivors” are charged
with educating the Public, as to what is more
appropriate and accurate. Our loved one died of a
disease, just like others have died of cancer, brain
tumors, car accidents etc. If we never meet, this
new phrase is something you can take with you today.
If you would be interested in learning more about
our group sessions, please call Bob Riley @
239-253-6600. Our group of survivors wishes you to
know there is a place where you will receive the
support and caring spirit our members share with all
who walk through our door. “We” do know “how you
feel”, as we welcome the opportunity to meet and
support you in your time of need, especially if you
had found your loved one.
We also have a host of information to give, as
you begin to understand the depths of what lies
before you. We are aware of how difficult it is,
attending a meeting with a group of strangers,
talking about your loved one and your feelings.
We’re sorry for your loss and we await the chance to
see you.
