About Bob Riley
"Life Coaching is Life
Changing"
I was born in
Pittsburgh, PA. where I spent the first
seven years of my life. With our family
moving to Florida, this became our
permanent home and we've been here ever
since. I will tell you that
I've got too much sand in my shoes to move
anywhere else. After graduating high school,
I enjoyed 2 years at my local Community Jr.
College, pursuing a business career
direction. During the Vietnam War, I
enlisted in the U.S. Navy where I
spent the next four years traveling across
the U.S.A. and abroad. My love for people, along with
a spirit of camaraderie, was setting the stage for
an eventual career path of being self employed.
During the time of creating and constructing our
family Tire and Service Center, I pursued employment
with the U.S. Postal System. I learned so much
during my tenure there, especially what I did not
want to do for the rest of my life. What our Dad had
accomplished for my brother and I growing up was
that we knew Dad loved Mom. Having the repair
responsibility of a person’s automobile, you are
obligated to make sure they are always safe. To
communicate that, particularly to a woman, we must
always convey truth and trust. Dad taught us to
respect women and to make sure they are safe and
secure. By earning that trust with women and their
automobiles, we soon became a beacon of light for
the
female driving population. Interesting what just
owning and operating an automobile service center can
teach you about life.
The next segment of my life was about
operating a wall covering contracting business. This
took place over the next fourteen years of my life.
During this period of time I subsequently obtained
my real estate license, while investing in
foreclosure fixer upper properties. This still
remains a passion of mine, as the buildings we own
serve as rentals for folks and their families. Being
a landlord has all of its trappings as it has its
blessings. There was a time when it was more like
pushing rope uphill daily then it was a profitable,
serene experience. As with everything else in life
the experiences we have set us up for the next
adventure.
Due to some physical limitations surfacing in my
life, I identified my next passion in life: Child
Care. Not having my own biological children created
a need for me to be an influence to other people’s
children. I purchased a center which was close to
shutdown, unbeknownst to me. Over the next nine
years this would become the most
significant learning curve I would experience in my
entire life. It was also the time period I would
hire a most wonderful Life Coach to work with me and
who then taught me exactly what I needed to learn to
become one myself.
From the youngest child, thru all
the staff, children, families, associates in child
care and similar agencies, they all contributed to
this mega fast track of learning that I had been
experiencing.
Once again, women served to teach me the very
lessons I needed to have for continuing on my road
of personal and professional success. Believe me
when I tell you that my deepest appreciation for
what I had been given over those years seems to
fall short, in comparison to the lessons and wisdom
received.
As I became more immersed in the teachings and
guidance of children and families, it was now time
to leave the world of Child Care and create the next
chapter of my life. This would become the world of
non profit. Focusing on Children Inc. emerged which
supports disadvantaged financially challenged
families. Children who are determined to do the
right thing, regardless of their socio, economic
status in life, are given the opportunity to attend
a summer camp of their choice. This is totally for
them and about them. They will create some positive
history to flash back to when they reach adulthood.
The personal success this has generated in both the
families and donors is quite remarkable.
As I continue with my Life Coaching, it is revealed
to me daily that this is
absolutely my “authentic work” which I was placed on
this earth to accomplish and share with others.
Committing myself to this journey has been and
continues to be a very rich and rewarding experience
for me. The constant flow of positive energy serves
as a daily gift for me, making me so enthusiastic
about my next coaching arrangement.
Personal/Family
I am the very fortunate and proud husband to my wife
Susanne, who contributed to our life together, four
wonderful children and four as wonderful
grandchildren. The magic they have all brought to me
over the years, I could never imagine being without.
They help me strive daily to keep becoming the best
Bob Riley—husband—step parent and “Pappy” I can be.
I love you all.
Our family’s Recipe for Kindness
This passage served as such an integral part of mine
and my brother's upbringing, as we now make it
part of our families:
Sift together equal parts of kindness,
understanding,
Tolerance and love.
Add abundance of Fairness.
Flavor with Smiles.
Whip with Enthusiasm.
Sprinkle with Humor.
Cover with Tenderness.
Simmer with Trust.
Garnish with Forgiveness.
Serve daily in generous portions for a Long and
Happy Life.
Compliments of John and Harriet Riley
Bob’s Personal
Mission Statement
"I shall pass
through this world but once. Any good therefore I
can do or any kindness I can show to any human
being, let me do it now, let me not defer it, or
neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again."
